I feel like I have been keeping this secret for so long, but I can finally say WE ARE EXPECTING! August 2018 is going to be unforgettable!
Where do I even start when it comes to this wild ride called pregnancy?! I am currently 14 weeks and starting to feel normal again! For the past 13 weeks I have had the classic “car sick” feeling all day and most nights, but I have been so so lucky with no bad sickness and no showing up. Praise Jesus!
The first couple weeks of finding out, all those pregnancy symptoms started coming, its not all fun and games, but I am so lucky to have friends and family who have had babes and gone through it before me! I relied a lot on them for advice on how to get through the rough parts.
Our journey, Luke and I had a plan in mind when to start a family but the past year I had gone through a lot of doctor appointments trying to figure out why I wasn’t having a regular menstrual cycle (sorry TMI) but it was a fear I had. A fear that gave me anxiety and worry about the future. I saw a specialist for the issues and she gave me the diagnosis of PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome). I was both happy to know what was going on but the fear and anxiety about possibly having a hard time getting pregnant was still there. My whole life I have wanted to be a mom and raise a family and this diagnosis made me question it all. I started medication order to have a regular menstruation, and the medication worked! Each month before taking the medication I had to take a pregnancy test-because the medication isn’t safe for those who are pregnant. Every month it was routine, and December 22 was no different: take the test, see the negative, and move on with the day. WELL December 22 wasn’t like ay other day after all! It was the day Luke and I’s life changed. It was the day that test was positive along with 4 others! (i just couldn’t believe it was true!)
GOD IS SO GOOD! Luke and I had dinner with some friends a couple weeks before finding out. She announced she was pregnant to us and we were so excited! My girl friends knew the diagnosis and problems I had up against me and my friend said something that will never leave my mind, “God can make you pregnant whenever HE wants, It doesn’t matter the diagnosis or plan, HE has a plan and can make you pregnant when He wants!” Little did we know I was just a week pregnant with our little miracle.
After I found out the morning of Dec. 22, I rushed to the doctor to confirm, and again it was confirmed! Then all the excitement hit me, and I still needed to tell Luke! I had so many ideas running through my head but I just couldn’t think straight! Luke was at work so I had the day to create a surprise for him. I bought a cute “dad” onesie, some “uh-oh” pants, a balloon, and put them on the bed, along with the pregnancy test.
The hardest part of all of this was the wait for Luke to get home 🙂
SO this is where our journey began! Full of excitement, unknown plans, feeling a little bit scared and anxious, but oh so happy! We are so grateful for all of our friends and family, and can’t wait to share this experience with you through the blog!
A little bump-date on my first trimester and the past 14 weeks…
How far along? 14 weeks
Due date? August 20, 2018
Gender? We don’t know yet but we’re very excited to find out on March 25th!
Any cravings? Anything cold, sweet, or sour. Cereal is one of the main food groups lately! I also have the need for all things sour! Sour patch kids, sour straws…my mouth is watering just talking about it haha!
Aversions? Any leafy greens or green veggies really made me gag. The smell, the idea of eating it, and everything about them haha! So strange because I really do love veggies!
Showing yet? I’m definitely showing in the afternoon and at night! But I think it looks more like a bloated bump instead of a baby bump! It most definitely can still be hidden under clothing.
