Moving into a studio I was excited to decorate and figure out how to create a functional but organized space that also had enough storage for our necessities. We are still hoping to get some pictures on the wall after the holidays, but I am excited to share some of the details of our little home!
The first thing Luke and decided when decorating and getting furniture for our homes, was we would only buy pieces of furniture that would last and were neutral enough to fit into any style home we decided to rent or own down the road. We felt it was important to invest in good pieces of furniture that would last years and not have to keep buying year after year because we bought cheap!
Well, we were still limited because of our budget, but budget doesn’t have to mean cheap! We didn’t have the money to buy all the nice things we wanted right when we got married, so my search was on for simple, neutral, and sturdy all the while staying in our price point.
Our first “big” purchase were our couches. We had saved a lot of gift cards from our wedding, along with saving extra money up, and after a year we were able to get the couches I loved! We waited until Macys had a sale and then went for it. Other than our couches, the rest of our living room furniture and decor was under $150 (this includes rugs, end tables, coffee tables, dressers, and the DIY Dog Crate (click link to see how I converted a buffet table into a dog crate). I love switching up the small things. I am constantly moving decor around the space to switch it up and add variety to my every day routine!
I hope you like it as much as we do!
I was able to find and link some exact pieces, as well as rounded up a few with a similar feel, that I also love! Links under each picture 🙂
Couches: Braylei Track Arm Sofa (Pewter-Macy’s)
Rugs: Faux Fur Rug (white- Target), All Natural Fiber Rug (natural-Amazon)
Dresser (also use as TV stand) : I found this gem on craigslist ($40) about 4 years ago! I will link one similar to it but I always suggest doing a good craigslist search for about two weeks if you aren’t in a rush to get a particular piece! Also search different cities! It is worth the drive to save money for a quality piece 🙂 A more expensive dresser from Joss & Main. Budget friendly from Target (In the case of this dresser, the easiest way to vamp a boring item up is to change the hardware!)
Dog Crate: Originally bought from estate sale! DIY Dog Crate
Pillows: Most Pillows I found on clearance from Target, TJmaxx, Marshalls, or Homegoods
Coffee Table: Previous table- Warm Ash-Walmart. I do love this table, but I have noticed it scratches easily since it is not real wood. I was on the hunt for a new coffee table in a gold tones. and my hubby surprised me with this one from Target for Christmas! (Sayer Coffee Table)
